Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said there were approximately five people residing inside an apartment complex when one of the occupants, a man, retrieved a handgun and shot his brother and his brother’s fiancé.
The alleged shooter has been detained. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Gonzalez said she was shot multiple times.
Gonzalez said the man was also taken to the hospital and is said to be in serious condition.
The sheriff also said the preliminary information is that the man shot the two family members over witchcraft concerns.
“The alleged shooter was upset and concerned because he thought or was speculating that his family members may have been conducting some kind of witchcraft on him,” Gonzalez said.
Investigators are looking through the apartment complex to see if there were any witnesses to the shooting.
