Management at SW Houston tire shop say they may no longer open 24 hours after deadly shooting

In a matter of seconds, surveillance video showed a masked gunman opening fire, killing a customer, and injuring an employee at 24-hour Tires.

Night manager, Reginald, said she rushed to help his co-worker after hearing the gunshots.

“I grabbed him and he showed me his arm where he was shot so I pulled him over to the side and locked the door,” said Reginald.

The video showed the armed man running from Mansard Street to the back of the tire shop. He shoots the customer multiple times.

Police say a bullet also hit the employee. The suspect appears to have taken something from a customer in the video. The gunman quickly ran away towards Mansard Street.

General Manager, Robert Moore said the tire shop is one of five 24-hour tire shops the company owns.

He said the company is now considering no longer being open 24 hours and adding more security after recent crimes over the past years.

“It appears that being open 24 hours has become a magnet for things and people to commit crime,” said Moore.

In 2019, KPRC2 obtained surveillance video showing a group of armed people at the company’s Tire World location. Employees were held at gunpoint and dragged across the store.

In 2022. police responded to a different robbery shooting at 24-Hour Tires.

According to HPD, in the past 6 months, police were called to 24-Hour Tires six times, including Tuesday night’s shooting, two different disturbances, and a suspicious person.

“We won’t let this detour us in what we know what to do for those that embody the city of Houston,” said Moore.
