HOUSTON – This weekend, delays are expected as construction continues at the West Loop as a part of the Southwest Freeway interchange project. Drivers traveling near the impacted area may want to consider an alternate route.
For the West Loop bridge work, crews will close two southbound main lanes of the I-610 West Loop at I-69 starting Friday at 9 p.m. Lanes are expected to reopen Monday at 5 a.m.

Lanes on I-69 northbound exit ramps to northbound and southbound I-610 West Loop will be closed as well.
Crews for the Texas Department of Transportation will work to open the second lane of the northbound I-69 Freeway to northbound I-610 West Loop ramp.
The landmark $259 million project is expected to be completed near the end of this year.
As a connection point between two major highways, the I-69/610 interchange is one of the busiest roads in the city. The completed project will expand the connector ramps to two lanes, intending to increase sight distances and limit weaving on the freeway.
