Incumbent Harris County DA Kim Ogg conceded Tuesday night to Sean Teare.
Teare, who was once Ogg’s prosecutor, said that he was aware of her conceding but that she has yet to contact him directly.
Being the Democratic nominee, Teare is now expected to face the Republican choice, Dan Simons.
According to Simons’ law firm website, he was born and raised in southwest Houston.
It goes on to say that “(Simons’) family was very poor and was forced to live through the struggle of poverty. During his childhood, there were times when he was homeless and had no choice but to live in cars or tents to survive. Dan constantly faced problems and chaos in his family, ultimately being placed in foster care at a young age.”
He has four brothers and one sister.
Simons spoke with KPRC 2′s Cathy Hernandez after the election and shared that he’s ready to address the media following his win.
He told Hernandez that “it’s an honor and privilege” to be the Republican nominee for the race for District Attorney.
Simons also congratulated both Teare and Ogg following the race and said he’s looking forward to the November election.
