Police eventually took a man into custody and then away in an ambulance for a medical evaluation.

Police Chief Doug Balli told KPRC 2 they know people have reported that shots were fired, but Balli said they don’t have any evidence to back that up and they have not found a gun. Balli said there’s no threat to the public and they’ll continue to investigate.

The Strand is the heart of Galveston’s historic district and also a National Historic Landmark.
