HOUSTON – Some parents with children in the Houston Independent School District are outraged after discovering a sudden decision made that has the potential to disrupt their children’s education.

Within a span of just 48 hours, two highly regarded schools, Wharton Dual Language Academy and James F. Helms Elementary, have been re-categorized as “separate and unique” campuses, requiring new students to apply for admission.
Numerous parents we interviewed expressed their frustration, revealing that they had intentionally chosen to reside in these neighborhoods to ensure their children’s enrollment in these schools.
Now, they not only worry about the possibility of their children being denied admission but also fear the impact these changes will have on property values.
