HOUSTON – Authorities recovered a stolen ambulance overnight Friday after a woman was caught on camera taking the vehicle for a joyride.

According to the Houston Police Department, an ambulance that belongs to the Houston Fire Department was initially parked at Hermann Memorial Pearland on Hwy 288.
It’s unclear when it all happened, but EMS crews told officials an unidentified woman came to them asking for a ride. They told her they were not able to and when the EMS personnel came back out of the hospital, the ambulance was gone.

Officials later confirmed the keys were inside the ambulance and the doors were unlocked. Additionally, surveillance videos caught the woman taking the ambulance.
A search ensued involving Houston PD and Pearland PD, and around 1:30 a.m., officers found the ambulance on Alrover St. just off W Fuqua. There was no damage to the ambulance and nothing was taken, but the woman was not found.
No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, but an investigation remains underway.
