1 dead, another hospitalized after suspected drunk driver crashes into W. Houston METRO stop

HOUSTON – One person has died and another person has been hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a METRO bus stop in west Houston Monday.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Westheimer Rd. and Briarhurst Dr.

According to Lt. Va’shawnda Mclean with HPD, the driver, an unidentified woman, 31, crashed into the METRO bus stop. Mclean said she showed signs of intoxication and put up some resistance before officers were able to detain her.

Meanwhile, the two people who were sitting at the bus stop were taken to the hospital. One of them, an unidentified woman, 33, succumbed to her injuries. The condition of the second person, described only as a 40-year-old man, is unknown at this time.

The driver was arrested but no charges have been filed, as of this writing, because she was hospitalized as well.
