Adan Lopez, and the driver of the car, Norma Miranda Estrada were in an ambulance being treated when deputies got to the accident scene around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

They first arrested Estrada and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated.

While they were doing the field sobriety test with Estrada, deputies say Lopez refused to do what they asked and “consistently interfered with the investigation.”

Lopez was arrested for interfering with public duties and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Estrada was wearing a seatbelt, and Lopez was not, according to investigators. He had multiple cuts on his face and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Members of HPD’s Internal Affairs Division met him at the hospital.

In March, Lopez and three other HPD officers, along with investigators from several different agencies, were involved in the shooting death of a man they say was a serial robber in Montgomery County.

Both Lopez and Estrada were booked into the Montgomery County Jail over the weekend.
