Now, in the aftermath of the storms, folks who endured extraordinary situations are looking for available resources to help them recoup some of the unexpected expenses.

On Wednesday, KPRC 2 Digital Reporter Moriah Ballard will be with a representative from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), seeking answers for residents and seeing how to fill out their online or in-person applications properly.

In the past two months, the Houston area has seen about three storms that have ravaged the area, brought destructive flood waters, and left thousands displaced.

FEMA officials previously opened recovery centers for the following areas: Calhoun, Eastland, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, and Waller.

Locations and operating hours:

  • Harris County: Thomas A. Glazier Senior Education Center, 16600 Pine Forest Lane, Houston
  • Liberty County: Jack Hartel Building, 318 San Jacinto St., Liberty
  • Trinity County: Trinity ISD Boardroom, 101 W. Jefferson St., Trinity

On Wednesday, the agency announced that they will also be opening additional Disaster Recovery Centers in Hardin, Montgomery, and Walker counties on May 30 to help Texans affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, and straight-line winds that began April 26.

The centers are located at:

Hardin County

Hardin County Courthouse Annex 1135 Redwood St. Kountze, TX 77625

Montgomery County

East Montgomery County Community Development Center 16401 1st St. Splendora, TX 77372

Walker County

Walker Storm Shelter 455 TX 75 N Huntsville, TX 77320

The centers will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. To find the center location nearest you go to fema.gov/drc. No appointment is needed.

KPRC 2 is working to bridge the gap between residents and emergency management agencies to help the community as we continue recovery operations.
