The reality of most disappearances is they are shrouded in mystery, and the case of Alfred Aikman is no different. Despite a troubled past, Alfred’s family is left searching for answers about his whereabouts.
Alfred, who had spent years in jail on various charges, was last heard from on March 14, 2013. His sister, Sheila Daniel, recalls the last conversation they had when he was leaving the hospital. The call was abruptly disconnected, and she has not heard from him since.

“Alfred wasn’t perfect, but he was my brother,” Sheila shared.
After being released from prison, Alfred found himself homeless, living in an abandoned building near McGowen and Live Oak in Houston’s Third Ward. He struggled with his diabetic condition and frequented hospitals for treatment. Despite his circumstances, Alfred’s sister says he was determined to turn his life around and kept looking for work.
“He was trying to get back on his feet,” Sheila recounted. “He wanted to find a job and make a better life for himself.”
Despite the passage of time, she remains hopeful for answers.
“He was a very close brother to me when we were younger. He moved to Texas and had a daughter there, but she hasn’t seen him either. In 2013, we reconnected, and I got him a cell phone to stay in touch. After that, he vanished,” Sheila explained.
For Alfred’s daughter Keymyra, the distress is even greater because her mother also went missing around the same time.
“It was 2013 when my mom went missing too,” Keymyra explained. “I hired a private investigator to look for her, but the only information I got was from Social Security, stating that her benefits had stopped. It’s like they both vanished without a trace.”
Expressing her desperation for answers, Sheila shared how she just wants answers and closure.
“It’s been so many years. He had moved to Texas after leaving the Virgin Islands. He was arrested at one point, and there was a lot of chaos in his life. But when he was living with us, we were very close. He loved cooking and had a loving personality.”
When asked if she had a message for anyone with information, Sheila pleaded, “If anyone knows anything about my brother’s disappearance, please come forward. It’s been years, and we need closure. Whether he’s okay or not, we need to know.”
Keymyra is Alfred’s only child, and the weight of the search falls heavily on her shoulders.
“I just want to know what happened to him. He deserves to be found, and our family deserves answers,” Keymyra said. “If anyone knows what happened to my father, please come forward. Even the smallest piece of information could help bring us closure.”
Alfred is described as five feet eight inches tall and weighing around 164 pounds. He had a medical boot on his left leg due to a knee injury sustained in prison and also had a tracheostomy after being shot in the mouth.
