Woman arrested for driving with infant in lap, children unrestrained in front seat

A woman was arrested for driving a vehicle with a four-month-old child in her lap.

Officers also found two other children, a one-year-old and a two-year-old, sitting in the front seat of the vehicle without any kind of child safety seat.

Carey was charged with two counts of endangering a child. She is being held in place of a bond of $30,000.

Under Texas law, all children under the age of eight must be secured in a child safety seat unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches.

Seat belts must be worn by older children who have outgrown booster seats.
