3-year-old ejected from vehicle after driver hits power line in east Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident Tuesday night when a 3-year-old was ejected from a vehicle in east Houston.

Details are limited, as police could not disclose much due to the ongoing investigation. What we know, however, is officers got the call a little after 8:36 p.m. for a crash with a major fatality at the 8500 block of Cowart St. near 610 in the Pleasantville Area.

That’s where officials say a driver hit a powerline, causing the toddler to eject from the vehicle and die on impact. It’s unclear if the child was wearing a seatbelt, or in a car seat, neither is the relationship between the driver and the 3-year-old, as of this writing.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

No additional information was shared, as of this writing, but an investigation continues and KPRC 2 will monitor this story and make updates as it develops.
