According to the Houston Humane Society, here are some warning signs that your pet needs to cool down, drink water, or go to the vet:

  • Heavy panting
  • Glazed eyes
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Excessive thirst
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Seizure

How to protect your pets from the heat?

  • Limit time outdoors
  • Walk them early in the morning or late at night
  • Apply ice on the back of their necks and chest
  • Let them lick ice cubes

And if you notice severe signs, you’ll want to call your veterinarian.
