It happened around 11 p.m. on Dowdell and Mosswillow in Tomball, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
It’s unclear what caused the unidentified driver to lose control, but Sgt. Bondurant with the Vehicular Crimes Division said he veered off the road and hit a tree before the car flipped and rolled into a nearby ditch.
Firefighters had to extricate the driver and was rushed to a nearby trauma center, where Sgt. Bondurant believes he may not survive.
Despite the horrific weather conditions from Hurricane Beryl, Sgt. Bondurant says the road conditions could be to blame but believes alcohol may also have played a factor but that will be later determined with a toxicology report.
