HOUSTON – Workforce Solutions, the regional workforce development agency, is urging southeast Texans affected by Hurricane Beryl to complete a damage and needs assessment survey.

“It is critically important that individuals receive all necessary assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl,” said Juliet Stipeche, Director of Workforce Solutions, in a statement released by the agency. “We encourage everyone to complete and submit the survey as quickly as possible.”

The agency says the federal threshold for assistance is approximately 800 homes with major damage or destroyed, whether they are insured or not. Once the threshold is met, additional resources will be made available—including disaster unemployment assistance.

Tuesday, President Biden issued a federal disaster declaration for 121 Texas counties affected by the storm. This disaster declaration, however, does not cover individuals that have suffered damage to their homes or other losses. In order to deliver assistance to affected individuals, the Texas Division of Emergency Management is encouraging affected residents to report storm damage through the TDEM reporting tool.

The survey can be found here.
