Kamala Harris has officially been named as a candidate for President of the United States after President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 race.

Documents with the Federal Election Commission confirm the Biden-Harris campaign has amended filings, renaming its Principal Campaign Committee to Harris for President and declaring Kamala Harris as a candidate.

The documents also show the Harris has inherited the Biden campaign fund.

Even though Harris has filed to run for President, she will still have to secure the democratic nomination when delegates meet for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Aug. 19-22.

There, nearly 4,700 delegates will be responsible for picking the nominee who will face former President Donald Trump at the ballot in November.
