Kelsey was born and raised in Houston and played field hockey for St. John’s School.
She then went on to graduate from Stanford University, studying mechanical engineering.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, she is now the women’s field hockey goalkeeper for Team USA!
Kelsey’s grandmother has been cheering her on since she was three years old and went to many of her games while she was growing up. Now her granddaughter is set to take the world’s biggest stage.
“Oh, I’m so excited, she was able to go from a three-year-old playing soccer to the Olympics in Paris! It’s just wonderful, it’s been a dream of hers.”
Alice says Kelsey has fought hard to get to where she is today. Bing and the US Women’s National Team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics in India earlier this year, finishing second place at the FIH Qualifiers. Bing was named “Goalkeeper of the Tournament.”
Because of mobility issues, Alice wasn’t able to go to Paris. She will be watching the game here in Houston along with other members of Kelsey’s family.
When asked what she hopes for Kelsey at the Olympic Games, Alice was quick to reply.
“I just hope that the whole team does well, and that Kelsey does well, and is happy with her procedure, no matter what happens. Win or lose.”
The US Women’s Field Hockey Team has their first game tomorrow against Argentina at 12:45 p.m. Houston time.
