Driver of armored car disarmed by robbery suspect in north Houston

Police are investigating an armored car robbery that happened Tuesday morning in north Houston.

The suspect, described as a man in his 30s with facial hair and wearing an orange vest, managed to steal a gun belt and firearm from a Brinks employee before running away.

The incident began at a check-cashing spot where the suspect first targeted the armored car. He then proceeded to rob the check-cashing business. Witnesses saw the suspect hop a fence behind the business to make his escape.

HPD officers responded to the scene after receiving multiple 911 calls, including one that described an ongoing robbery involving a stolen gun.
