Authorities report that the man was standing in the middle lane of the freeway when he was hit by a vehicle. The woman driving the vehicle remained at the scene and was later transported to the hospital.

It remains unclear why the pedestrian was on the freeway at the time.

Following the initial collision, a second vehicle carrying five people struck the first vehicle involved in the crash. All six occupants of the second vehicle were also taken to the hospital.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined the cause of the pedestrian’s presence on the freeway.
