Woman hospitalized after stranger accuses her of running over brother, attacks her in Memorial Park

HOUSTON – A woman was hospitalized after receiving injuries during an attack at Houston’s Memorial Park.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened around 5 a.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of Memorial Drive.

Police say the woman was jogging on a trail in the park when she was confronted by a man in his twenties who accused her of running over his brother with a vehicle. The man then attacked her, hitting her and dragging her off the trail.

The woman was able to get away and the suspect fled the scene.

Police say the woman told them she had never met the man before and never ran over anyone. As of last check Thursday, police say she is still in the hospital.

Authorities continue to search for a suspect, but have not provided a suspect description at this time.
