The incident was reported on Aug. 15 after a sergeant was flagged down in the 1200 block of North Cesar Chavez Boulevard for a kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl.

Officials said the teen’s parents told the sergeant that the man drove off with their daughter. Rodriguez reportedly threatened to shoot the father if he approached his vehicle.

Once the suspect’s license plate number was identified, the vehicle was tracked by deputies. Rodriguez reportedly dropped off the teen near 2805 Navigation Blvd. and proceeded driving north. Once located, Precinct 4 detained Rodriguez, allowing Precinct 6 to take him into custody.

Rodriguez is expected to appear in court on Oct. 29.
