Former Friendswood police chief passes away, city announces

A former chief of the Friendswood Police Department has died, the city announced Saturday.

Robert “Bob” Wieners served the Friendswood community for 24 years.

“His commitment, leadership, and compassion touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him,” a post from the City of Friendswood Facebook account read. “Chief Wieners was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of strength in our city.”

The city also announced that a memorial was set up at the Friendswood Police Department for those who would like to pay their respects to the former chief while funeral arrangements are finalized. The station is located at 1600 Whitaker Drive in Friendswood.
