HOUSTON – A San Antonio woman battling kidney failure is pleading for the return of a cherished item lost during a recent trip in Houston.

Samantha Martinez, who returned to Texas earlier this month after a long flight home from Spain, accidentally left a sentimental blanket at a McDonald, located at 255 Greens Rd., in north Houston.

The blanket, made by her late mother, holds immense emotional value. Martinez, who is currently undergoing dialysis treatments, explained that her mother, Mary Martinez, died in January 2021 from COVID-19 at the age of 49. The blanket was a special gift from her mother for Christmas in 2020, just a month before she passed away.

Martinez stopped at the McDonald’s on Greens Road after landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. As she was leaving, she accidentally left the blanket behind. When she realized her mistake and contacted the McDonald’s, staff informed her that they saw someone pick up the blanket and leave with it.

Desperate to get the blanket back, Martinez is now reaching out to the public for help.

“She gifted [the blanket] to me for my dialysis treatments Christmas of 2020. So I had it for about a month before she passed away,” Martinez shared, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of the blanket.

Martinez is offering a new blanket and a $100 reward for any information that leads to the return of her cherished item. She hopes that someone who picked it up might not have realized its significance and will come forward to return it.

Anyone with information is urged to help Samantha Martinez reunite with this precious keepsake from her mother. Click here for her TikTok or email therenalrascal@icloud.com.
