KPRC 2′s Faith Braverman had a quick chat with Mattress Mack over the phone as he shared his recovery progress from Galley Furniture.

“I feel pretty good, still loopy in the cognitive sense, but I guess I always was a little bit,” he joked. “But I appreciate y’all lifting me up in prayer.”

McInvale said the trouble began Friday night, when his leg began bothering him. Saturday morning, he drove into work, but for the first time in 43 years, he missed his exit.

“I got into St. Luke’s at noon Saturday and got out late Monday night,” he said.

Doctors confirmed the rash on his leg was due to cellulitis, a common bacterial infection. He’s still working to learn what caused his cognitive issues, but said he is so thankful for all the great customers and their well wishes

And ever the businessman, he also wanted to remind customers about his extended Labor Day Sale and to encourage folks to head to Gallery Furniture. He also shared some pearls of wisdom amid his health struggles.

“Remember, tough times don’t last, tough people do!” he said.
