HUNTSVILLE, TX – Officials with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) said an inmate who escaped prison is back in custody.
Jesus Villareal, 39, went missing from the Huntsville Unit on Sunday, according to a press release.

He was captured in Calallen, TX.
Surveillance video showed Villareal at a nearby convenience store Sunday morning. Officials said he was traveling in a maroon Chevy Malibu to the South Texas area.
Currently serving a 63-year sentence for four counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault out of Cameron County, Villareal also faced an additional charge of possession of a deadly weapon in a penal institution in 2015.
Villareal will now face felony escape charges.
Local and state law enforcement agencies helped locate Villareal.
Officials have not released any details on how Villareal escaped from prison.
