Man charged for murder at apartment complex in southeast Houston

A man has been arrested for the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex in southeast Houston.

Regell Aron Tillis, 64, has been charged with murder.

The shooting occurred around midnight at an apartment complex located at 12000 Martin Luther King Blvd. A man alerted authorities after finding his roommate with a gunshot wound. When paramedics arrived, the victim was pronounced dead.

There was believed to be four people in the apartment unit during the shooting. Two of them left the scene before Houston police arrived, and the third one initially reported the shooting.

The identity of the 52-year-old victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Detectives learned that Tillis was in a neighboring apartment complex, and they were able to detain the suspect in the unit.
