Teen and adult dead, 5 others hospitalized after home collapses on family in Brazoria County

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Two people are dead and five others were taken to a hospital after a manufactured home, in the process of being leveled, collapsed in Brazoria County.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at approximately 5:03 p.m. in the 2000 block of County Road 49 in the Angleton area.

The sheriff’s office said several family members were working to level the manufactured home when it collapsed, trapping them underneath.

First responders were able to rescue five people from beneath the structure. Four were taken by helicopter to Houston-area hospitals and are currently in critical condition. Another was taken by ambulance to a hospital in stable condition.

The sheriff’s office said two other people, a 17-year-old and a 31-year-old man, died in the collapse.

Officials continue to investigate.
