HOUSTON – A man died Tuesday night in northwest Harris County after a homeowner shot and killed him when he was spotted possibly trying to break into homes.

It happened just before 11 p.m. when deputies with the Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office said there were at least two homes on Woodoak Drive and Fairbanks North Houston Road, that suffered serious damage.

A homeowner saw what was happening from his front porch and investigators said he grabbed a gun after seeing an unidentified man grab what was believed to be a shovel and shatter a house’s window.

The homeowner then shot the suspected home invader, who was later rushed to the hospital by emergency officials, where he died.

No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, but homicide detectives were called to the scene to continue the investigation.
