Houston PD officer, 2 children among 5 hospitalized in two separate crashes in NE Houston

HOUSTON – Several people were taken to the hospital late Sunday night after two separate crashes in northeast Houston.

MORE STORIES ON OFFICER-INVOLVED CRASHES

It all started just before 9 p.m. when Sgt. Dallas with Houston Police Department said a driver hit a young woman on Eastex Fwy Road and Laura Koppe, causing her to fall over the retaining wall. She was rushed to a hospital in extremely serious condition; Sgt. Dallas said her injuries were so severe it did not look good for her.

However, the driver stopped and we’re told is cooperating with investigators.

While police were investigating the initial crash scene, Sgt. Dallas explained how one officer was blocking a certain part of the scene and a suspected drunk driver went through anyway and hit the officer’s patrol car.

MORE CRIME-RELATED NEWS COVERAGE

Sgt. Dallas said the suspected drunk driver had two small children (3 and 6-years-old) in the car. All three, as well as the unidentified officer, were taken to the hospital.

No additional details were shared, so it’s unclear if any charges have been filed.
