A woman who took off after chasing and shooting her ex-boyfriend -- right outside the Bellaire Police Department -- was caught in Alabama after a dramatic standoff that brought out multiple agencies and shut down both sides of a busy highway.
Police used spike strips to stop her car on Interstate 65 in Autauga County.

The chase and standoff that followed brought out Alabama’s highway patrol, the state’s Bureau of Investigations, SWAT team, and the hostage negotiation unit.
After a standoff on the highway that lasted more than two hours, the woman, identified as 39-year-old Choima Agurd was arrested.
Initially, Alabama police and negotiators thought she had a child in the car, but after her arrest, discovered she was alone in her Mercedes SUV.
The arrest ended a violent day that started early Friday in front of the Bellaire Police Department.
Agurd was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – a first-degree felony involving dating violence – and aggravated assault on a public servant (peace officer). Her bond has been set at $30,000.
Here’s what happened
Around 2:30 Friday morning, Bellaire police got a call saying a woman in a Mercedes SUV was following a group of people in a Ford truck.
One of the guys in the truck was her former boyfriend.
They told police they thought she had a gun.
The group drove to the Bellaire Police Department, apparently to avoid a confrontation.
But as two Bellaire officers drove up in marked cars to talk with the truck’s occupants, the woman drove up to the passenger side of the truck and shot her ex-boyfriend multiple times, according to police.
One of the officers shot back at the woman, who took off.
The ex-boyfriend was shot multiple times and is hospitalized in serious condition.
