Police say it happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning at a home on Emnora Lane off Hollister Road in the Spring Branch area.

When they got to the home, they found the BMW in the side of the home, on fire. Paramedics tired performing life saving measures on the driver, but say the driver, a man they believe is in his 50′s, died.

As police were trying to investigate what led up to the crash, they learned there were some strange circumstances surrounding the driver, before.

“Some neighbors had called that this individual lives close by,” says Lt. Willkens with HPD. “He was actually knocking on several doors claiming that he had people’s keys. And, so they actually called the police about a suspicious person because he was acting strange. I don’t think they really even knew that it was his neighbor at the time. Of course, we put everything together. We found out that he was like originally knocking on doors by his neighbor’s house, got into his vehicle, and then he ends up crashing into the house.”

Police say an autopsy will be done.
