Houston trash pickup behind schedule: Use these drop-off sites

Residents complain about trash pickup problems in Orange County

Houston’s trash pickup is experiencing changes and delays in trash collection during this busy holiday season.

Officials say crews are running behind schedule because there’s more debris than expected. Right now, they’re focusing on bulk waste that was scheduled for pick-up during the first and second weeks of December. They’re asking residents to place bulk waste at the curb as crews work to catch up.

Got trash? Use neighborhood drop-offs

If waiting isn’t an option, the city has six neighborhood drop-off locations where you can take your bulk waste.

Here are the drop-off locations:

  • North Main Neighborhood Depository, 9003 North Main St., 77022
  • Central Neighborhood Depository, 2240 Central St., 77017
  • Southwest Neighborhood Depository, 10785 Southwest Freeway, 77074
  • Northeast Neighborhood Depository, 5565 Kirkpatrick Blvd., 77028
  • Southeast Neighborhood Depository, 2240 Central St., 77017
  • Northwest Neighborhood Depository, 14400 Sommermeyer St., 77041

What are the hours?

The drop-off sites are open Tuesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. But keep in mind that you’re asked to come at least 30 minutes before closing time to give them time to unload.

SCHEDULE: Houston’s garbage collection schedule to change over holidays

Heads up: There won’t be any garbage, recycling, yard waste, or bulk waste collection on New Year’s Day and neighborhood drop-offs won’t be open. Plan ahead to avoid overflowing bins.
