ALVIN, Texas – Students and teachers of Alvin ISD’s Walt Disney Elementary returned to classes in a temporary school on Tuesday.

Disney Elementary School was severely damaged in an EF-2 tornado on December 28. Alvin ISD moved classes to the old Alvin Elementary School, located just four miles away.
School leaders worked around the clock to transform the old campus for students return on Tuesday.
Houston Texans Toro, The Texans Cheerleaders, and Texans Legends welcomed the students back to class.
While the location change may feel overwhelming for some, Alvin ISD was committed to making the transition as smooth as possible. Students continued with the same teachers and classes, minimizing disruption to their education.

The Houston area community rallied around the district. They gathered overwhelming support, a countless amount of school supplies, and $150,000 in donations.
Insurance claims were in progress for Walt Disney Elementary, and long-term plans were being evaluated.
