TEXAS CITY, Texas – A Texas City ISD middle school was evacuated Tuesday morning after a bomb threat.

Texas City said the approximately 900 middle school students had lunch at the high school, and after police didn't find anything during their sweep of Blocker, the students returned to the middle school.

Police said a shelter-in-place was briefly issued for both Kohfeldt Elementary and Calvin Vincent Early Childhood, but was lifted at around 11:45 a.m. There were no threats to those campuses, police said.

Authorities are encouraging parents to allow their children to stay in school for the remainder of the school day.

Texas City ISD released a statement about pick up:

"Blocker parents are now allowed to pick up their children from Texas City High School. However, long lines will cause delays. The students are settled in and safe. BMS parents may wish to wait 30-minutes to an hour before picking up their children. We are not canceling school. There is no requirement that children be picked up early. Students who ride buses will be transported at regular bus times. Students at Kohfeldt and Calvin Vincent are not being released at this time because they are safely sheltered on their campuses."
