HOUSTON – April's full moon is not only the first of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, it's also the only pink one.
According to space.com, the Pink Moon doesn't look particularly pink, but it is named after pink flowers called wild ground phlox that bloom in early spring and spread widely throughout the U.S. and Canada at this time of year.

The moon reached its peak early Tuesday morning, but it will still appear full to observers everywhere through Wednesday.
The moon appeared about 30 minutes after sundown Tuesday and will reappear Wednesday after the sun sets.
