HOUSTON – Nowadays, most people would think a chance meeting between one-time political rivals in a heated election would be anything but cordial, but a recent encounter might just change your mind.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Democrat U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke bumped into each other this week at Bush Intercontinental Airport, about a week after the pair faced off in one of the most contentious and expensive Senate races during the 2018 midterm elections.

Texas A&M student Tiffany Easter witnessed the moment and posted a recap on her Facebook and Twitter pages Tuesday.

In her Facebook post, Easter said she was waiting to board a flight to Washington when she noticed that both O’Rourke and Cruz were about to board the same flight.

“Beto noticed Ted sitting down and walked over to congratulate him on his re-election campaign,” Easter wrote. “It was the first time they had seen each other since the election, and the entire conversation was both of them talking about how they could move forward together.”

Easter, who is studying at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, was able to snap a picture with the smiling politicians, who stood on either side of her.

“Today, we literally watched them come together,” Easter wrote. “This is America. This is good. This is wholesome. This is why I love and do what I do.”
