Investigators said Juarez went to the apartment complex to visit friends, but he and his friends were confronted by five men in the parking lot. The men, who were armed with guns, led Juarez and his friends to an apartment, police said. The men ransacked the apartment and then left, officials said.
Juarez left the apartment a short time later, walked to the bottom of the stairs and was shot by the attackers, detectives said.
One of the five men was described as Hispanic, in his late 20s and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slightly heavy build. He goes by the nickname "El Grande."
The group got away in a black 2000 to 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe.
