The group views the club as a counter to Christian after-school programs, and says it wants to extend a learning opportunity for children to see multiple points of view.

"It's critical that children understand that there are multiple perspectives on all issues, and that they have a choice in how they think," said the Satanic Temple's co-founder Doug Mesner.

The group says its plan for children isn't to promote the worship of the devil, but rather says scientific rationality provides the best measure of reality. The curriculum will include creative activities, literature lessons, puzzle-solving and a healthy snack.

The Satanic Temple plans to start the clubs in a limited number of schools that also host the Christian after-school progam, the Good News Club.
