West Houston storm debris pickup scheduled for Saturday, Sunday

HOUSTON – The Solid Waste Management Department has scheduled crews to pick up storm debris in west Houston for Saturday and Sunday.

The collection will be done in several neighborhoods:

  • Nottingham Forest
  • Memorial Glen
  • Fonn Villas
  • Gessner, Memorial, Briar Park corridors

Residents are asked to have all debris pushed to curbside by 7 a.m. Saturday. Debris should be separated into six piles and away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, power lines and other objects that will hinder safe pickup.

How the six piles of debris should be separated:

  • Normal house-hold trash bagged
  • Vegetative debris, such as trees, leaves, logs, plants and branches
  • Construction and demolition debris, such as building material, carpet, drywall, furniture, lumber, mattresses, and plumbing
  • Appliances: air conditioners, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers and water heaters
  • Electronics: computers, radios, stereos, televisions and other devices with a cord
  • House-hold hazards: cleaning supplies, batteries, lawn chemicals, oils, oil-based paints, stain and pesticides

All parked vehicles are required to move from the streets when debris crews are working in the neighborhood.
