Woman ejected from car after being hit by car chase suspect

HOUSTON – A police chase ended in a four-vehicle crash, with one innocent woman being ejected from her vehicle near downtown, Houston.

According to police, the chase started at 10:08 p.m. Sunday near York Street and Harrisburg Boulevard after the driver of a white SUV failed to yield for a routine traffic stop.

The chase lasted about five minutes and ended at Chartes Street just south of Texas Street after police said the driver rammed into the back of a Honda Civic, which pushed it into another car.

In an attempt to keep evading police, the driver of the SUV reversed and struck another car and a semi-truck before continuing into the intersection and continuing eastbound until he was stopped and taken into custody at Texas Street and Bastrop Street, police said.

According to authorities, the force of the impact caused a young woman in the Honda Civic to be ejected from the car.

She, along with three other people including a child were taken to the hospital, police said.

The suspect was charged with evading police and driving while intoxicated with pending charges for failure to stop and render aid and vehicular assault.

According to police, the suspect didn’t stop because he had a suspended license.
