Woman in dog head costume steals money, cigarettes, leads deputies on chase, officials say

Colleen Dickens was arrested Thursday after leading deputies on a chase after reportedly stealing cigarettes and money from a gas station in south Houston while wearing a dog head costume and a pair of wings.

HOUSTON – A woman wearing a dog head costume and a pair of wings reportedly stole items from a Stripes gas station Thursday morning, officials said. 

Investigators with the Harris County Precinct 7's office were called around 9:30 a.m. to 2329 Southmore Boulevard on a report of a woman who had walked behind a cash register and was taking money.

When deputies arrived, the woman, identified as Colleen Dickens, ran to her vehicle and took off. 

A chase began after Dickens led authorities to the 6600 block of Peerless Street, where police had deployed spike strips and flattened three of the her  tires, investigators said. 

"The suspect was extremely combative and spit on several Sheriff deputies during the booking process therefore, a spit guard had to be placed over her mouth in order to  get her mugshot taken," said Pamela Greenwood, public information officer for Harris County Precinct 7. 

Dickens was taken into custody shortly thereafter.
