This week’s KPRC 2 and UTMB Health Athlete of the Week goes to Shadow Creek cornerback Cobey Sellers.
Sellers is a senior and considered to be one of the top 200 high school football players nationally in the class of 2025. He’s committed to play college football at Texas A&M and holds offers from two dozen power programs.
Sellers has been a quiet leader and versatile player for the Sharks, who are 2-1 this season. Head coach Tyrone Green, who is in his first year leading the program, has leaned on Sellers as he has been discovering a louder voice in the huddle for leadership purposes.

“He provides so much athleticism and corner, and so much length and speed,” said Green. “He’s first in conditioning, he’s the first one at practice and meetings and everything. I think the kids are trusting him, and he’s a great kid who always does the right thing.”
“Taking a leadership role is pretty important and at the next level it’s going to be something I need to be successful,” said Sellers. “I try to go up to my teammates one on one to help them.”
