The Coogs retained their No. 1 spot despite their loss to Memphis in the AAC championship.
This makes it the second time in program history that Houston will be going into the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 seed.
The Coogs will open up against No. 16 Northern Kentucky on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama.
