Richmond 2-year-old buys Tic Tacs for firefighters

RICHMOND, Texas – A little boy's good deed for a group of Richmond firefighters is going viral!

Two-and-a-half-year-old Dawson usually gets a little reward for good behavior during shopping trips with his mom, Summer Aldridge.

Last Thursday, during a trip to the Walmart on FM 1640 in Richmond, he earned $5 to spend on a toy or snacks.

But after picking out his treat, Dawson suddenly put it back on the shelf and exchanged it for a few boxes of Tic Tacs.

"'He said, 'No, can we give this to those guys?.' And I turned around and it was four or five firefighters and they were walking to checkout," Aldridge said.

Little Dawson had spotted the firefighters and wanted to do something nice for them, as his grandmother had taught him.

"My mother and him take cookies to fire stations around here all the time," Aldridge said.

The guys from Richmond Fire Department station No. 1 were blown away.

"It shows a lot about his character and the kind of guy he's gonna be," firefighter Aaron Hafer said.

Aldridge took a few pictures and shared the encounter with social media. The post quickly went viral, shared more than 23,000 times.

"It's just who he is and I hope by sharing his story, it can give other people hope and their kids maybe would follow in his footsteps," Aldridge said.

The firefighters invited Dawson for a tour of their station and hope to see him before Christmas.
