Former Harris County Judge candidate Alexandra Del Moral Mealer said she will file an election contest following a post-election assessment.
Republican challenger Alexandra del Moral Mealer has conceded in the race to become Harris County judge, according to a statement released on her Twitter page. Judge Lina Hidalgo will now serve another term as county judge.
GOP donors spent millions to unseat Hidalgo, a Democrat who leads the state’s most populous county, and take back a seat they lost four years ago. Republican Alexandra del Moral Mealer conceded the race Wednesday morning.
A new poll from the University of Houston’s Hobby School of Public Affairs shows the race for Harris County judge is in a statistical dead heat.
She is the incumbent, but if an early poll is an accurate indication, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo will have a fight on her hands to stay in office.
