Former Houston Mayoral candidate Bill King is the Party’s Founding State Chair and says his party is seeking those who want nothing to do with radical fringe politics. “All the polling shows the vast majority of Americans are in the middle of the political spectrum,” he said. “It’s only the people who are on the ideological fringes, which is unfortunately what controls the primary election, that drives this narrative that somehow we’re a divided people.” Former GOP Congressman David Jolly is the Executive Chairman of the party and says the SAM party is a logical destination for people who want to see progress over hyper partisanship. “We’re the only big tent party in the United States of America today,” he said. “We want moderates, progressives, conservatives, provided you are committed to the basic problem solving construct that government should reflect, that you’re committed to transparency and accountability, that’s SAM.” See much more about this new party sinking national roots, including Texas on this week’s Houston Newsmakers EXTRA.

In 2020, he is helping in the effort to develop another COVID-19 vaccine by participating in the clinical trial for Astra Zeneca. “I’m a big believer in vaccines,” King said. “I knew they were going to need some seniors in the trial, and a lot of seniors are going to be reluctant to do it,” King said. “I had a pretty good bundle of them the first time through,” King said.

King received his first vaccination on Monday. He received his first shot Monday and is set to receive his second shot on December 21. “I’m frankly glad I was in the AstraZeneca because it’s really important to have (a) very affordable, easy to distribute vaccine that we can get out to the entire world,” King said. King said he believes AstraZeneca’s Covid vaccine will be easier to distribute because it doesn’t require super cold storage.

Read full article: State plans to take Hurricane Harvey funds from the city of HoustonHOUSTON – The Texas General Land Office is planning to eliminate the city of Houston's control of funding for Hurricane Harvey housing relief. In a letter sent to Mayor Sylvester Turner Wednesday, the GLO stated it was overhauling "all responsibility for administering disaster assistance to city residents." The GLO argues the city has done little with the recovering funds. The state has four years to allocate the funds to Houston residents, so there still is time. Turner said the city is taking all necessary legal steps to preserve the city’s right to administer the funds.
