The homicide was reported about 2:20 p.m. at a home on Briar Forest Drive near Beltway 8. Russell Miller, 69, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member with serious bodily injury in connection with the death of his mother, 93-year-old Dorothy Bassett. (HPD)According to Houston police, Miller called 911 about 2:30 p.m. and reported that he had Bassett with a .38-caliber pistol.
