HOUSTON – Pearland has canceled its annual Christmas festival and parade, opting for a virtual event with a fireworks display on Friday. The Virtual Hometown Christmas Festival will begin with a virtual tree lighting at 7 p.m. followed by an 18-minute fireworks presentation at 7:30 p.m. The program features festive holiday displays along with holiday greetings from city council members, community leaders, Santa Claus and Mayor Kevin Cole. The event will be streamed on Facebook Live and sponsored by H-E-B. Until Jan. 4, 2021, people can enjoy the Hometown Christmas Lights at Independent Park at 3449 Pearland Parkway.
