Georgia’s Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods now says school districts may teach a new Advanced Placement course in African American Studies.

The College Board has released an updated framework for its new Advanced Placement African American Studies course, which officially launches next academic year.

The College Board says schools in Florida should not offer its Advanced Placement course in psychology to students, citing guidance from state officials to exclude content on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The College Board says changes will be made to its new AP African American studies course, after critics said the agency bowed to political pressure and removed several topics from the framework, including Black Lives Matter, slavery reparations and queer life.

The organization that created a high school African American studies program rejected by Florida says it’s still waiting for specifics from the state about how the course violates state law.

The official curriculum for a new Advanced Placement course on African American studies released Wednesday downplays some components that had drawn criticism from conservatives including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who said the class would be banned in his state.

Thousands of high school students in China are missing Advanced Placement exams that many prepared for to improve their chances of attending college in the West.

The administrators of the SAT say the exam will move from paper and pencil to a digital format.

U.S. students registered for subject tests will automatically have their registrations canceled and be refunded.

In response, many Texas universities are becoming test-optional through 2021, waiving the traditional requirement for test scores to gain admission. Baylor University, Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University and St. Edward's University have all temporarily scrapped their testing requirements through 2021. And some universities that were doubting the value of test scores even before the pandemic see an opportunity to change the admissions process altogether. In the absence of scores, school performance will disproportionately count towards an application, he said.
